Hello Folks :)
Just wanted to share some recent conversations that I've had, along with I suppose Update this thread - coming in right where I left off apparently ...
I guess the 'downtime' drove some people away; looking into new avenues; here's to the hope that with the Return of AlertPay - the users will come back as well - to where we all left off; Discussing ways to create Scrips, to Make This Billing Option "better" for all of us who use it.
One of the scripts that I really Loved with Paypal - was the "LinkLokIPN" Script -- I've mentioned having conversations with the guy who runs that site, and who writes the fantastic scripts there; and I hope he doesn't mind me sharing what He said to me just last week, after I contacted him to find out if he got the chance to review the AlertPay System - in hopes of writing a script that works The same way for PayPal
I had another look at Alertpay to see how their integration systems are progressing. The biggest problem with Alertpay still has not been addressed unfortunately. When selling downloadable items the only way to deliver still is using email. There is no facility to provide the download link on the return page because no order data is sent to the return URL as far as I can see. We can only use the IPN system to send out an email (IPN can't display a page). Relying on email is just not reliable these days because of spam filtering and would create too many support issues I think. Linklok would be accused of not sending out the download link even even though it would be.
Spam filtering is a much bigger problem than it first seems because companies like yahoo actually filter and block emails without informing the email account holder or placing a copy in the spam folder. I did some recent checks and although Yahoo might deliver a blatantly obvious spam email they often block emails form because they don't like the IP address or the ISP it came from.
If you have any contacts at Alertpay I would suggest requesting a proper call to the return URL with the order data and a hash check string. This way we won't be reying 100% on email delivery. Linklok Mals originally only supported email delivery for the same reason until I persuaded the developers to add the return data. Before this was added support was a nightmare.
Thanks
Adrian

Honestly, I don't know what that means; but perhaps someone Here Will have an idea of how to Set the Proper Return URL with the order data and a hash check string... because I've got No clue what most of that means.
For those who don't know; LinkLok is a fantastic Script - but it's not compatible with AlertPay ... here's to the hope that someone can find a solution that is Similar...
