Is this possible?

We're trying to emulate the paypal ipn system with alert pay in zendcart.

Is there a url different URLi can direct the cart to that will get us there?

At this time, we currently support credit card processing on our checkout page.  We are experimenting with a few other ideas where we may allow users to process directly from their site.  This is not anytime soon.

 Thats a shame.........

I signed up for Alert Pay, but now I found that the customers must sign-up for an alertpay account before they can pay.

Thats ridiculous because not many customers would sign-up. I tested this and the process is too long..

Therefore I will have to look for another provider such as 2checkout.com or plimus.com or paypal as they have a better system where the customer goes straight to the checkout.

I think you misunderstand the post above.  Currently users can pay on our checkout page, and then an account gets created afterwards.

What the above post was referring to was the abilty to have customers checkout directly on your website without coming to AlertPay's site.

 Well how can we make our customers checkout first and complete their transaction?

Can they finish the transaction without having to sign-up / login / validate their email, etc......?

Yes.

Once they go to the checkout page, they can either pay by credit card or login to their account. If they pay by credit card, after the transaction is completed, we send them an email with their account details.
